A native of Charleston, WV, "Smiley" had been a Hampton, VA resident since 1975 where he was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. Smiley was also an active member of the Elizabeth Lake Home Owner's Association and served as past President and Civic Affairs Chairman.

Mr. Morison entered the Army in September 1962. During his career as an Army Officer and Pilot until June 1980 with tours of duty in Germany and Vietnam. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, 14 Air Medals, Purple Heart, and numerous ribbons.

Survivors include his wife, Janice P. Morison, two daughters, Michelle Melissa Morison of Norfolk and Melanie Renee Reno and her husband David of St. Augustine, FL. A stepson, Justin Davis Denlinger of Sherman Oaks, CA, and a brother, Larry S. Morison and his wife Paulette of Houston, TX.
