Tommie Hodges Jenkins, 59, a farmer of Kenbridge and formerly of Burkeville, died May 9, 2004. Mr. Jenkins served as President of Nottoway County Farm Bureau for 13 years, was a former agriculture and shop teacher at Nottoway High School and a dairy farmer for most of his life. He was a 1966 graduate of Virginia Tech, former member of the Virginia Angus Association, the Crewe Kiwanis Club, and a Hunter Safety Instructor. He was immediate past President of the Southside District Virginia Tech Extension Council, was an active Virginia Tech alumni and a member of the Crewe Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Frances Williams Hawthorne Jenkins of Kenbridge; his son Todd Jenkins of Burkeville; his step daughters, Diane Rash of Crewe, Glenda Whitby of Chesterfield, Cristyl Word of Victoria; eight grandchildren; his mother, Gladys Jennings Jenkins of Burkeville; his sister, Mary J. Roberts of Bon Air; and his brother, John Lee Jenkins of Burkeville. He was also father of the late Tommie Hodges "Chip" Jenkins, Jr.
