Louis Dexter Hubbard, Jr., 61, longtime resident of Fredericksburg, died at his home on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002. Mr. Hubbard was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church in Fredericksburg. He received his master's degree in engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, VA. After working for a short period in Raleigh, N.C., Mr. Hubbard returned to the Fredericksburg area where he established a private practice in civil engineering. He was a site developer and construction manager for numerous commercial and residential projects in the Fredericksburg area. He was an avid golfer and was active in the Fredericksburg Country Club, having served as its president and a member of its board of directors. He was active in many civic associations including Fredericksburg City Council from 1980 to 1982.


Mr. Hubbard is survived by his wife, Gina Ventura Hubbard; two sons, Louis Dexter Hubbard III, of Friday Harbor, Washington, and James Carter Hubbard of San Francisco, California, a brother, Carter Clarke Hubbard of Savannah, Gerogia; three sisters, Mary Charles Blakebrough of Durham, North Carolina, Louisa H. McAllister of Annandale, Virginia, and Amanda H. Sedgwick of Wurtzberg, Germany; one grandson, August James Titus Hubbard of Friday Harbor, Washington, and numerous nieces and nephews.
