Retired Executive Vice President of Rail Bearing Service, died of cancer on March 3, 2006 at his Oakleigh Estate in Cobbs Creek, Virginia.
Born in Richmond, Virginia in 1942, he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. At Virginia Polytechnic Institute he played football, was President of Pi Kappa Fraternity and majored in Economics. Later he served as President of the Salisbury Country Club. With Nathan Turbeville he formed Rail Bearing Services in 1972 located in Richmond. The company developed into a highly successful multi-national company. Later Ed organized Power Distribution, Incorporated and Performer Yachts.
At his death he was President of Piers, Inc. He was a man of many interests and talents that included fishing, boating, gardening at Oakleigh and rooting for his beloved Virginia Tech Hokies. In 1998 he and his wife, Sally, moved to Oakleigh. Ed deeply loved life, his family, especially his five wonderful grandchildren and his many friends all of whom were inspired by his warm personality, his will to live and his courageous two and a half year battle against pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sally; three children, Blair, Robin, and Katie.
